Oprah is counting on Rosie to draw traffic to her OWN network: http://www.thirdage.com/celebrities/rosie-odonnell-returns I loved The Rosie O'Donnell show. She was fun and funny, not mean. And she was generous, giving away things in exchange for a mention of the sponsor and raising money for charity. I still liked her on The View, although not as much. Somewhere along the line -- I think when she started working on her own magazine -- she started coming off as kind of crazily self-centered. I did like, however, how she brought visibility to the world of gay parenthood -- not really much different, if at all, from any other parenting. I think she normalized it for many people, as it should be. As a writer, some of the things I heard about her behavior at the Rosie magazine were not good practices for inspiring confidence and loyalty from staff and writers. I no longer care whether her show does well or not. I have other things to do besides watch it these days. But I will be interested in which Rosie is hosting: the fun and generous Rosie or the irritable and self-centered Rosie. How do you feel about Rosie?
This is one of the most thoughtful responses to discrimination I have ever heard. I am facebooking it and recommend everyone else do so as well. It is a great example of advocacy and I love it! Be proactive. Spread this around.
So -- I guess Rosie is not still loved by TV audiences. She couldn't bring the ratings for her new show, which has been dropped. And she apparently didn't make too many friends during the course of the show as there are reports of her having regular blow-ups with staff over her controlling ways and humiliating feedback. Does Rosie need more anger management therapy?
